Leaves in the neighbor hood are starting to change

Back home after 2 weeks in New England. leaves are just staring to change here. I went outside to take a photo. Hank was by the island but he must have heard me as he flew off. So I had to settle for just a picture of the pond

Vacation is over. Wanted to stop at Dorset Union Store for some ginger molasses cookies but they are closed on Mondays. Oh no!

Heading home on the thruway traffic was bad heading to New York two weeks ago but wasn’t bad coming home. Made it is 7 hours with several stops
Sure wish Vermont was closer

The rain finally stopped
Roger demonstrating his tennis ball cannon

Then we decided to head to Southern Vermont Art Center. One of the many sculptures throughout the grounds

Then on to the exhibit Love of Vermont. The Lyman Orton Collection. Mr Orton is the owner of the Vermont Country Store. He was kind enough to autograph his book The Collection focuses primarily on work from 1920 to 1960, and includes many of the artists who set the stage for the Southern Vermont Arts Center.
There was another exhibit of Sally Mavor’s work. it is a view of a wide array of original picture book illustrations spanning her career, including the entire series of artwork for her most recent book, MY BED: Enchanting Ways to Fall Asleep around the World. This was one of my favorites since I am a knitter.

This is just part of their selection Decisions decisions. We will be back .

Didn’t realize when I took this picture that Vermont would be backwards
Then we decided to check out Lake Powell State Park. Don’t know how we have missed it in all our trips to Vermont. It was raining so we didn’t get to spend as much time there as we would have liked

Then we headed to Weston but the Vermont Country Store was packed so we decided to skip it

Marble House Project is a multi disciplinary artist residency program

Orvis is a must if you are ever in Manchester, Vermont. It’s Michael favorite store but he didn’t find anything today. I think that’s a first.

Dorset Marble Quarry opened in 1785 and is the first marble quarry in the US. it supplied marble to the New York Public Library, and several amazing mansions in NYC. Today the quarry is a much loved place for swimming

Decided to head back to Crawford Notch to see if we could get some good photos
Stopped at pond by the Wiley House first.

Then we headed to the Notch. Luckily there were not that many tourists there today so we managed to get a good parking spot and were able to take some great photos

Then we stopped by the Flume

Then we headed to North Conway to check out Zeb’s country store. Bought an ornament and another gnome.
So far this is the only moose we have seen

Then we stopped at Thorne Pond and continued to the Saco River. It was a rocky path to get to river

Headed back to B and B but had to stop for more pumpkin people this one won second prize

This one is by a winery

Once we got back to the B and B we stopped at main part of Inn and one of the owners told us that Samuel Bemis owned over 10,000 acres that included most of Crawford Notch. Current owners own his house and over 115 acres. He bought one of the first cameras in 1840 and took the first known landscape photographs
