I read an article in the local newspaper earlier this week that the Bacon Ridge Nature Area would be open this weekend for hikes.  I had never heard of this area before and did some research.  Bacon Ridge is a nature area just outside of Annapolis, Maryland.  The central 630 acres are permanently protected from development through a conservation easement between the County, Maryland Environmental Trust, and Scenic Rivers Land Trust.  Right now it is only open one weekend a year for observance of Earth Week.  The National Park Service is providing assistance to the County to develop it into a park in the future.  I emailed some of my friends and we decided to go on the 4 1/2 mile guided morning hike.  There were a total of 16 people in our group.  It was a great day for a hike – blue skies and around 60 degrees – although it was a bit muddy since it rained last night.  This is a shot of the beaver dam that was built within the last six months.  Our guide and his wife were very informative and we now have a list of more places to hike.  We took a lot of pictures and it was hard to decide which ones to post

Spent the afternoon in meetings, so was really surprised and happy to see how nice it was when I left work.  Was trying to decide what to do for my photo of the day when I noticed this tree in my neighborhood’s yard.  After I started supper, I grabbed my camera and headed outside.  Took a bunch of photos and love the white and green combo.
