In Memory.
Michael and I went on a bus trip to New York City with the hospital auxiliary to see the 9/11 Memorial. The Memorial is very well laid out and is very emotional. We took a lot of pictures and we liked this one the best.
The Last Column stands 36 feet high and is covered with mementos, memorial inscriptions and missing posters that were placed there by iron workers, rescue workers and others. It was removed during a ceremony to mark the close of the recovery effort at Ground Zero. The column, was laid prone, and draped with an American flag and escorted by honor guards. It nows stands tall in Foundation Hall at the 9/11 Memorial with the hope that it will encourage reflection on the foundations of residence, hope and community with which we might build our collective future
