Brrrr.  It was only 7 degrees this morning – coldest since January 2009.  I ventured outside this morning to see if I could find any good photo ops and found some neighborhood kids  sledding down the hill by our house.  Was really surprised by the bright bold colors. We haven’t had any significant snow in Maryland in a few years so they were having lots of fun.  Does anyone still use the old time sleds?

Snowboarding or sunbathing.  We just had our first real winter snowstorm and imagine people were wishing they were someplace warmer  Me – I was one of the crazy people that was outside during the snowstorm last night taking pictures.  I wish I could have spent the morning outside taking photos but had to go to work.  Rubber duckies – gifts from the Lake Pointe Inn in Deep Creek.  They always have a rubber duckie that reflects the season in your room when you check in.  The snowboarding duckie is their newest one.

We went to Deep Creek over New Year’s to see some snow and get some winter shots.  When we got there on Sunday there wasn’t any snow on the ground.  We had some snow showers and the ground was covered.  We got home today and the weather forecasters were predicting one to three inches of snow.  It started snowing around 5 and it’s still snowing  There is already about 3 inches of snow on the ground and it’s supposed to snow all night with several more inches of accumulation so…….. once again the weather forecasters missed the mark.  Took this shot from the dining room.

One more winter scene  This is at Herrington Manor State Park.  As I post this last picture today, I realize that I am starting year 3 of this blog.  Where does the time go?  I missed a few days posting in late 2013.  It was so hard to be inspired and take pictures after our trip to Yellowstone and the Tetons.  It’s going to be hard to find some good photo ops when we get home after all the beautiful scenery in Garrett County but we might get some snow Thursday night and Friday – I have my fingers crossed.  Think it will be really funny if we end up getting more snow at home than we did while we were in Garrett County.  Happy New Year to everyone
