Beautiful day. Temperatures hit 60. We decided to go to Blackwater Wildlife Refuge

We were hoping to see some snow geese and lucked out. They were a little too far away to get a good picture
Was surprised to see how low the water was in some places

A beautiful fall day with temperatures in low 70’s. Decided to go to Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge in Cambridge
Thought this piece of wood had an interesting shape to it. I thought it looked like two people holding something between them.
Was surprised to see how low the water was. Usually the erosion sticks are all surrounded by water
Erosion sticks. At last count 8,000 acres or 12 sq, miles of marsh land have been lost since the park was established. The sticks are just one of several different methods to help restore some of the wetlands.
We weren’t sure what all these sticks were so we went on line and found a picture with a note that these are erosion sticks. 8,000 acres or 12 sq miles of marsh land have been lost since the park was established.
