North Central Railroad (NCR) Trail in Monkton. We went to camera store in Baltimore, then REI and since we hadn’t been to the NCR trail in years decided to head there. We only walked a little bit on the trail because it was so windy and our ears and hands got cold really fast. Will have to go back when it warms up.

We went on a spring hike at Jug Bay Wetlands with a naturalist. She was great. We have been to Jug Bay numerous times but learned a lot and went on some different trails today.
There are three different thoughts as to how Jug Bay got its name. The first one is the bay is shaped like a jug, the second one is Indians settled there and lots of pottery has been discovered and the last one is that English sailors did a lot of drinking and thru the jugs overboard when they were finished
Part of the hike was on an old railroad bed. At one time the railroad ran from Washington, D.C. to Chesapeake Beach.Chesapeake Beach was the site of many slot machines in the early twentieth century as part of the “Little Nevada” area of southern Maryland.
