A crazy and hectic day at work and then a two hour dentist appointment and on top of that it was rainy and dreary.  When I left the dentist I was feeling stressed and really down.  Then when I crossed the Severn River I noticed the fog was setting in and thought – wow – possible photo op so I went to the park.  When I first got there – there were only a few people but when I left there were quite a few people with cameras or phones taking pictures.   I took a bunch of pictures and every time I thought I was finished and headed back to the car – the fog or sky would change and I would take more photos.  I ended up taking 80 photos.  I wish I had my good camera with me instead of my small point and shoot but I ended up getting a bunch of photos.  It was hard to decide which ones I liked the best.  When I left the park I felt so much better – guess I was enjoying Mother Nature at her best and was in the zone taking photos.

Rainy and foggy all day.  We ran some errands – went to the bookstore and then to grocery store – was surprised to see so many people at the grocery store – more than even at Christmas time and before a snow storm.  Bought some flowers to brighten up our kitchen –  this picture didn’t turn out as good as I wanted it to but its late so…

Rainy and dreary day today.  We had some freezing rain right around rush hour this morning and there were 70 accidents in our county alone.  I made it to work without any problems – thank goodness.  It was still raining when i left work and it was foggy so decided to stop at the park on the way home to see if I could find any good photo ops.   If you could look closely you can see the Severn River bridge in the background.

Brrr – it’s cold and windy.  Stopped at the marina on the way home from work – when I got out of the car the wind hit me – thank goodness I have a hood on my jacket.  If you look at the water you can see how rough it is.  And….. it’s supposed to get much colder tonight and tomorrow – forecasters are talking about a polar vortex – i don’t remember hearing that term before.

Brrrr.  It was only 7 degrees this morning – coldest since January 2009.  I ventured outside this morning to see if I could find any good photo ops and found some neighborhood kids  sledding down the hill by our house.  Was really surprised by the bright bold colors. We haven’t had any significant snow in Maryland in a few years so they were having lots of fun.  Does anyone still use the old time sleds?

Snowboarding or sunbathing.  We just had our first real winter snowstorm and imagine people were wishing they were someplace warmer  Me – I was one of the crazy people that was outside during the snowstorm last night taking pictures.  I wish I could have spent the morning outside taking photos but had to go to work.  Rubber duckies – gifts from the Lake Pointe Inn in Deep Creek.  They always have a rubber duckie that reflects the season in your room when you check in.  The snowboarding duckie is their newest one.

We went to Deep Creek over New Year’s to see some snow and get some winter shots.  When we got there on Sunday there wasn’t any snow on the ground.  We had some snow showers and the ground was covered.  We got home today and the weather forecasters were predicting one to three inches of snow.  It started snowing around 5 and it’s still snowing  There is already about 3 inches of snow on the ground and it’s supposed to snow all night with several more inches of accumulation so…….. once again the weather forecasters missed the mark.  Took this shot from the dining room.
