Left Stowe and headed to Dorset. I wanted to stop in Waitsfield to take a photo of the covered bridge. We missed the turn to the bridge so pulled into a road a little further down the road and we had a great side view of the bridge. Not sure which photo I like the best
Then we stopped just outside of Killington at Thundering Falls. There is a nice boardwalk to the falls. We didn’t think there would be much water going over the falls because of the drought but were pleasantly surprised
Stopped in downtown saratoga springs. Found a great bakery. Mrs Landons and a great yarn store. Common Threads
Then we headed to Manchester to Orvis so Michael could use his coupon. Then we headed to Stowe. Went a different route this time and discovered a new covered bridge Shushan covered bridgeBut after I took the picture I tripped and scraped my knee and elbow. Thank goodness there is a first aid kit in truck
Then we headed to Stowe and the sun finally came out
The gardens at the Stone Hill Inn are beautiful as usual
View from our room
Just some close ups of the beautiful flowers I finally got to see some lupine
Had to take a picture of this place before we left Bennington. We asked our server at breakfast if she knew what it originally was. She said she didn’t know. All she knew was that it was an historic site and could not be demolished. Guess they need Chip and JoAnna
Was surprised to see two fairly new birdhouses and a dry flower arrangement on front porch
We have both decided to stop in Bellows Falls for some coffee and chai tea Stopped at a great cafe
We had stopped at Bellows Falls years ago It’s really changed. There a lot of nice shops. We picked up some glass items at a great craft shop
Next stop King Arthur’s Flour
Stopped at their cafe to get some cold water and discovered
Next stop Simon Pearce. Great display as you walk in the front door
Love all the glass trees
Covered bridge is right alongside Simon Pearce
Made it to Stowe at 4 pm just in time to check in to Stone Hill Inn. One of our favorite bed snd breakfasts.
Garden right outside our room
Another moose. Still hope to see a real one before we leave
Went out to dinner at Doc Ponds and as we pulled into parking lot someone told us to careful there was a bear in the tree. It was hard to get a good shot of the bear but the hamburgers were delicious

Then we headed to the Kancamagus Highway and spotted this covered bridge. There were even picnic tables inside
Lots of these signs along the road but no moose sightings yet
Albany Covered Bridge. We were walking back to the car and a lady was taking a picture
and I thought wow that’s a different angle.
Views from the bridge
View from one of the overlooks
Michael reminded me that we have a photo of these red leaves at home that we framed. It’s probably a lot sharper since it was taken with our Nikon camera. I am going to have to look for it when we get home
More pumpkin people. This display won 3rd place. It’s on the grounds of the Seasons Resort. So they tried to cover all the seasons
On our way back to the Inn, we stopped for some coffee/chai and an afternoon snack. I picked up a magazine about Stowe. Since it was such a beautiful day, we decided to sit outside to enjoy our snack and read. The magazine mentioned a covered bridge less than two miles away. This is our fourth or fifth visit to Stowe – How did we not know there was a covered bridge in town. Definitely had to check it out.
This bridge is known as “Emily’s Bridge” due to the fact that it is haunted by a ghost named Emily. There are many sad stories of how Emily died on the bridge.
Many people who have visited the bridge have experienced disturbing paranormal activity.
If you would like to know more just google Emily’s Bridge, Stowe, Vermont
It’s Vermont so of course I need at least one picture of a covered bridge. This bridge is just up the road from the Stone Hill Inn and just a short walk from a parking area
