On our way back to the bed and breakfast Michael spotted some elk alongside Moose-Wilson road. He pulled over and got out the camera and tripod and started taking photos. Before you knew it, a bunch of other cars pulled over and started taking photos. Moose-Wilson Road is one of the best areas to see wildlife in the Tetons.
Spotted this elk at we were leaving the Hoh Rain Forest
My rack is bigger than your rack. Traffic jam on the road – that can only mean there must be wildlife around. We managed to get within 20 yards of this guy. He just kept munching and didn’t pay any attention to all of the people and cars
Closer shot of the elk
Spotted these alongside the road. Could not believe the antlers
Spotted our first elk just after we entered the park. We noticed a whole bunch of cars and trucks stopped by the side of the road so of course we had to stop and check it out. This young elk was munching by the river. There were quite a few people taking photos. He didn’t mind at all – just kept eating. Most of the people got within 15 to 20 ft of the elk. After we left, I started reading one of the park handouts – and they advise you keep at least 25 yards away from the elk! Oops.
