Stopped at the Hudson River Maritime Museum. We both enjoyed it. Was disappointed to discover that we could not see the Kingston lighthouse from shore. You have to go on a boat tour but we didn’t have the time. So copied picture from the website
Then we headed to the Saugerties Lighthouse. It’s now a bed and breakfast so you can’t go inside. It’s about a half mile walk to the lighthouse
Hudson River
Stopped at Olana. Home of Hudson Valley artist Frederick Church. They have a beautiful new visitor center
Drove through Hudson and discovered a park with a great view of the Hudson Athens Lighthouse. It’s currently undergoing renovations
Then we drove to Catskill and to the Point. It’s really changed over the years. Managed to get a photo of the Rip Van Winkle Bridge
Had dinner at Christina’s restaurant and it was great. Michael had spaghetti and meatballs and I had chicken parmigan sandwich. delicious. They also had fried bread dough balls in bread basket.
Travel day. It only rained about the last 90 minutes. 68 degrees and drizzling. Weather is New York is like Maryland
This morning it was 72 degrees when we left home. It’s 63 degrees and windy in Watkins Glen. A little too chilly to sit on porch
Michael suggested we drive to Lake Moreau State Park and it turned out to be a great idea. We have been to Saratoga Springs several times but just discovered this park
There were several canoes throughout the park. Not sure if that’s a big weed in the middle
Cloudy and only 67 degrees
Foggy morning but it turned into a beautiful day. We drove alongside of lake George and then headed to Fort Ticonderoga. We both remember being there as kids. Then we drove to Crown Point and then took a long drive back to Saratoga on a lot of country roads. The scenery was beautiful.
The only downside was we left one of our cameras in the hotel and the one we left in the SUV had a dead battery so we had to rely on our iPhones
It rained most of the way to Saratoga Springs but the color on the trees in New York is awesome. Hopefully we can get some good pictures tomorrow or the next day but weather forecast calls for more rain and wind is supposed to pick up
Ithaca Falls. Just a short walk from the street.
On the path to Ithaca Falls, I noticed all these rocks. People either carved their initials or names on the rocks and then stacked them on rock wall. What a great idea
