Decided to head to Sandwich. It wasn’t quite what we expected but we did get a couple of good shots of ocean

Stopped at a craft shop. Didn’t buy anything but got a good photo

Then we found this great cafe and bakery. Everything looked delicious but we settled for a cinnamon bun and it was delicious

Then we headed to Plymouth. Saw the replica of the Mayflower and Plymouth Rock

Discovered a lighthouse close to the Inn The Nobska Lighthouse overlooks Martha’s Vineyard and Nonamessey Island and is still active today

Stopped at the harbor nearby the Inn. The seagull didn’t even move as I walked by

We then headed to downtown Falmouth. Lots of scarecrows around town

Forrest Gump
Had to get a photo of this since it was in front of bookstore and he is reading a book

Then we headed to the Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve. the Wampanoag people settled here before the English settled on Cape Cod

The beaches were used by the army to train for amphibious warfare operations

Long day. We started breakfast with fruit banana bread and eggs Benedict. Then we headed to Provincetown Wow streets were very narrow and people were walking in the streets. No where to park and this isn’t even peak season. Then we went looking for lighthouses.

Highland Lighthouse is still an active lighthouses on Cape Cod National Seashore. It was erected in 2857 and is the oldest and tallest lighthouse on Cape Cod

Then we went looking for Race Point lighthouse but you actually had to hike to that but I did some pictures of the ocean

Then we headed to Chatham and found The Three Sisters Lighthouses. they were called the Three Disters because from sea they looked like women in white dresses with black hats

Next stop the Chatham Fishing Pier

Had to take a picture of this boat called the Miss Evelyn as that was my moms name

Next stop the Chatham lighthouse. It stands 48 feet tall and 80 feet above sea level overlooking Chatham Bar. It is one of few lighthouses in America that still operates 24 hours a day

Then back to Falmouth. Decided to stop for dinner at the Shipwreck and stopped to get this sunset photo. Sunset was before 6 but at home it wasn’t until 6:24

Back to the inn to relax in front of fire

Last morning in Vermont. When we left it was 70 degrees. We have been visiting Dorset for years but never stopped at Dorset bakery until this morning. What a great find

It was gray and overcast

Pretty flowers by the fence and parking lot

We usually try to travel during the week but because of a mix up with medication we decided to travel on a Saturday. We decided to leave later than usual so we left at 11. Traffic wasn’t bad even thought it rained on and off in New York and New Jersey. Google maps advised us to take 287 instead of 17 and Garden State. Made good time til we had a downpour on 287 and I missed an exit. 287 might be a little longer but will give it a try again. Made it home in 7 hours with 4 stops

It’s good to be home

Another very hot and humid day. Decided to drive to Brandon. We have never been there and the innkeepers recommended it. We drove along Route 40. It was very scenic and there were several lakes

Lake Bomoseen and Neshobe Island

We missed the turn off for Route 73 but we discovered another covered bridge on alternate road

Sanderson Bridge

Loved all the hot air balloons

There was a nice little park in town

Not all the churches in Vermont are white

Then we headed to Weston

Not much water going over the dam

Old building by the mill

Then we stopped at The Vermont Country Store. We have been there numerous times and it’s usually very crowded but not today
