Decided to go on a boat tour around the island I really wanted to take a boat trip to Tangier or smith island but they do not operate on Mondays and Tuesdays and forecast for Wednesday calls for rain and high winds

Captain Doug was great. He grew up on the island and was very informative

Some of the Chincoteague wild ponies on the north side of the island. There are 110 on north part of the island and 40 on the south side. They are descendants of ponies from a Spanish ship that sunk many years ago. We were about 20 feet away.
Assateague Lighthouse is a 142 foot tall lighthouse and was completed in 1867and is still operational. The keeper’s quarters are used as seasonal housing for employees, volunteers and interns.

Captain Timmy Hill House was built around 1800 and was moved to its present location in 1980. It’s Chincoteague Island’s oldest house
Research Ship Miss Brittany The captain was kind enough to let me on board and told me all about their research.

Bottoms Up Tiki Bar Party boat at sunset.

Just returned from a few days in the Outer Banks. We stayed at the White Doe Bed and Breakfast in Manteo The breakfasts were 4 courses. One morning we had biscuits and gravy and another morning we had grits. The afternoon snacks were delicious. Highly recommend it.

Drove to Wanchese, a nearby fishing village to see if we could find a wooden bowl at a local shop. They did not have the bowl we wanted but did get a couple of good photos. The shop did have some fishing floats for sale for 150 dollars. We still have two floats that we bought in Japan years ago. Guess we should have bought more than 2.

We then headed to Jockey Ridge State Park to check out the sand dunes. We only walked a bit on the trail because it was just too windy the park has the tallest active sand dune system in the eastern United States

Then we headed to the Wright Brothers National Memorial

Forecasters predicted rain around 8 pm tonight so figured there would not be much of a sunset so we went around 5:30

Managed to get our morning walk in but then the rain came. I am trying to post everyday and wasn’t sure what to post but decided to take a photo of some of my souvenirs that I have in my sunroom window. They are from Jackson hole, Mt rainier National park, multnomah falls and whistler in Canada
Last morning in Vermont. 4 days went by fast. we have been going to the Squire House in Dorset for over 10 years

Pond behind the house

Norwegian Wood Piles. It’s a space saving wood stacking technique. Once the barn was full of firewood they had to find a place for the rest of the firewood.

Made it home in time to see the sunset
We decided to drive the Mount Equinox Skyline Drive this afternoon. It’s 5.2 miles long and is the longest privately owned paved road in the US. The Green mountains, and the White mountains of New Hampshire can be seen to the east. The Adirondacks of New York are to the west and the Taconic and the Berkshires are to the south
We have not done that in years and was surprised to find a beautiful visitor center at the top.

It stopped raining. We drove to Hapgood Pond, Weston to check out Vermont Country Store Leaves are still pretty but not many reds
I

Rainy day in Vermont So what better time to go to my favorite bookstore. The Northshire Decisions decisions. Then we rode around looking for good photo ops
