After we finished hiking we headed to Manchester.  First stop of course was the Northshire Bookstore – my favorite bookstore.  You could spend hours in there.  I picked up a couple of books – could have gotten a lot more but had to control myself.  If you love books and are ever in Manchester – this is a must.  Then we headed to Michael’s favorite store Orvis.  We decided to walk from one Orvis store to another and was glad we did.  This is a pond between the two Orvis stores.  Love the reflections.

If you look in the foreground you will notice a couple of circles that look like hula hoops.  Orvis has fly fishing classes and they use these hoops for teaching casting.

We decided to head to Emerald Lake State Park.  We have driven by it numerous times but have never stopped and we recently picked up a book on good places for photos and the author mentioned that this was his second favorite lake.  What a nice park.  We walked about 3/4 of the way around the lake.  We were not sure if the path went all the way around the lake so decided to play it safe.  The author suggested that you go in the morning to get better reflection shots.  We also figured it would be cooler in the morning.  We had only walked a short way when we noticed the water lilies.  What a nice surprise.

Squire House Red Barn

Something besides flowers for a change. Decided to take a long weekend and we headed for Vermont. Can’t believe it’s been a year since we have been to Vermont. Had to drive through a really bad thunderstorm in upstate New York. It took us a good 30 to 45 minutes to drive thru the storm and the temperature dropped 20 degrees in 15 minutes. It was 91 degrees in Severna Park when we left and it’s 72 degrees in Vermont. Enjoying the cooler weather.I took a picture of this barn when we were here in February of last year just after it snowed so thought I would take another shot of it in the summer

Heading home today.  We have driven by the HMS Williams Country store in Dorset many times but never stopped until this trip.  It’s like an old time Walmart – it’s been family owned and operated since 1840.  Spotted this in the back parking lot of the store
